Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other message long enough to review it and respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may collect basic technical information about that visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device category and operating system
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- Browser type and version
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages are read most and where visits end. You can block cookies in your browser settings, although doing so may change how some site features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a query to the proper search partner
- Find and repair performance or technical problems
- Operate the website and keep pages responsive
- Measure which resources visitors use
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Our content identifies official channels for Clallam County records, including the sheriff, the county courts, Washington State Patrol, and the Washington Sex Offender Public Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-history files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules govern what a visitor enters there. Those practices are beyond our control, so read the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Clallam County Sheriff's Office, Washington courts and agencies, legal resources, or third-party tools. Once you leave this website, the destination's own policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not control that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure site use and performance
- Advertising networks serving material on these pages
- Search partners processing a query you submit
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for information in our care. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can depend on residence and the type of data involved. In Washington, the Consumer Protection Act, chapter 19.86 RCW, governs unfair or deceptive practices. The Criminal Records Privacy Act, chapter 10.97 RCW, separately provides inspection and challenge rights for covered official criminal-history information. Public agency records are addressed by the Washington Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion where the law provides that right
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Object to certain processing where applicable
